Margarita with a fall kick
Ok, so this recipe just kinda fell into my lap. It is an interesting mixture of cinnamon apple, tequila, and cognac. I’m really interested to try it out, it’s so perfect for the fall! It has all the elements, cinnamon sticks, apples, and raw sugar. I don’t know why tequila is a part of the recipe and this recipe also calls for adding Grand Marnier but it seems to complement it.
This can also be made as a mocktail just exclude the alcohol.
Ingredients
5 ounces spiced apple cider (If you can’t find spiced cider, try spicing your own.)
½ teaspoon lemon juice
.5 ounces Grand Marnier (or Cointreau)
1.5 ounces mescal or gold tequila
Crushed ice
For garnish: (optional)
2 tablespoons raw sugar
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Cinnamon sticks
Apple slices
Materials
Cocktail shaker
Let’s Begin!
Start by rimming the glass with sugar. Some use salt but I advise not with this recipe. In a small bowl, combine the raw sugar and cinnamon. Pour a splash of Grand Marnier into a separate bowl. Just a splash..don’t be heavy-handed. 😐 Next, dip the rim of the glass in the Grand Marnier to moisten it, and then immediately dip the glass in cinnamon sugar.
You should have enough cinnamon sugar for about 4-5 cocktail glasses.
Next, pour all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice and shake until well combined. Pour over ice into your rimmed cocktail glass and serve.
Now for the fun part, garnish with an apple slice, a cinnamon stick, and a dash of ground cinnamon to make it pretty and complete. 🙂
Enjoy!
