Oh Nola!
New Orleans I swear is one of my favorite places period. It’s almost like a smaller friendlier version of vegas with a more casual vibe, better food, and wearing flats is the norm, my kind of city! This vibrant city is known for its rich history and jazzy music but most of all, for its delicious southern cooking! OMG.
The Food
Willie Mae’s Scotch house famous for its fried chicken and soul food cooking, The Ruby Slipper famous for brunch, and Pier 424 Seafood market right on Bourbon Street where the food was to die for.
Don’t plan on going down there if you are on a strict diet I mean just forget about it. You would do nothing but inconvenience yourself lol. Here is a picture of some delicious Beignets for your visual enjoyment since they are the closest I’m going to get to them for now 😥
What I found the most interesting about New Orleans or N’awlins I like N’awlins better 🙂 is that a lot of the architecture is actually Spanish influenced not French, “Yeah there’s nothing really French about it,” says our tour guide. I also learned that this whole scary voodoo thing is not really scary at all its an actual religion with a church and everything. One word of advice is to find a tour guide that doesn’t suppress history, that’s why I liked ours, he was very authentic.
There’s so much richness and culture in this city that one would forget that Mardi gras is one of the city’s major draws besides the essence festival -an event I really need to make an effort to attend!
As for food spots, here’s a list of a few places I mentioned that you should definitely try if you’re in the city.
- Willie Mae’s for sure! 😛
- Pier 424 Seafood market
- The Ruby Slipper
- Tackle Box-social southern seafood & oyster bar
